why did this guy crash ? no enough speed to carry on down the slope ? land the bike to flat or to much on the back wheel ?

That just looks like a mega case to me, 50/50 or something similar, then the rear suspension loaded up and shot him forwards...

It appears he cased the landing with his rear wheel. This often results in the front wheel slammomg down hard and fast and the rider going OTB (over the bars). Clocking the front wheel also didn't help his cause.

:eek:

"cased the landing?"

"clocking the front wheel ?"

Because he launched of a perfectly good elevated piece of earth to land on another which is flipping far down below.

Cased - When a wheel hits the wrong side of the landing. Front wheel case almost always results in pain. A rear wheel case is often salvagable and the rider can make a clean getaway.

Clocked - like your car's steering. Clocked all the way left. Clocked all the way right. In that pic the riders bars were turned all the way to one direction so the front wheel was 90deg to the direction of motion.

Moral of the story :

speed = friend.

if he had been going slightly faster he would have not cased the landing, and clocked a new speed.

Not necessarily. Go look at the Cascades crash thread.... A classic case of too much speed is not your friend. Although "If in doubt pin it!" does sort out most situations....

Nobody mentioned Bender yet? The king of BIG crashes. I heard a rumour that he died...? Can anybody shed any light?
