got the same fork 6 weeks ago. during setup, i had a different approach - floodgate set to pretty "soft" (1 turn in). I'm 70kg, running pressure of about 5.2

give this a gander... http://fuzzz.gaulin....eba-like-a-pro/

That pressure is interesting. I'm also ~70kg and according to the label on the fork I should be running 100psi on my new Epic. I've gone down to 90psi for Knysna this past weekend but it was still nowhere near as compliant as my previous Fox. I'm will try 80psi next.

Forget that RS suggested setting sticker...over estimates...I go about 15 PSI softer than its suggests

Ta will check it

Good stuffs...something to try...from the article you posted, the part in bold is what I am interested in

With that setup I left the compression dial all the way open, the rebound just shy of full fast, and the flood gate at 2 turns towards the closed position.

I never used the lockout on my Reba but I did play with the gate to see what it does and how it affected the lockout.

My understanding was that it determines how active the lockout will be. It its set all the way closed you will need a moer of an impact to blow through the gate and activate the fork. All the way open will hardly lock the fork causing small impacts the activate the fork.

From the sounds of it you will want to run it all the way closed to have the most rigid fork possible.

As for air pressure, I run a little less than recommended and I run the compression damping three clicks from max. Rebound about 5 clicks from slowest. This is on my Lyrik btw but the same should apply to other solo air forks.

How's your sag?

The only thing with setting your gate to full closed is that riding it like that for extended periods can damage the stanchion due to lack of lubrication. RS forks only run 5cc of lube oil per leg, and the fork needs to cycle a few times every now and then to keep this moving around.

Basically, lock it out if you want to, but remember to unlock every now and then too.

Edit - took it as read that everyone knows what gate does. Sorry. But Maxxis has explained it pretty well.

You called?

Help asb, you seem to know your way around a RS fork, especially the details around threshold setting.

Any tips / input regarding my initial thought of running it at its max "stiffness" on threshold

Exactly the way I understand it wrt threshold adjust...it only applies to when the fork is locked out...maybe I am wrong. I am just concerned that I might damage internals this way if I permanently go for this option. The rest of the settings I know exactly what I like...its just the floodgate that has me pondering

How often and for how long do you ride locked out? Maybe gooi 1/2 threshold and see how it goes.
