Dean Lance Tyler Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Prep is going great so far and so keen for the race it's been cool this week but otherwise very hot usually and the sea temp was 21 degrees last weekend so doubtful of a wetsuit swim

Grantc Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 rode the race route on Sundayroad in reasonable condition - with road closeure you guys should have no problems avoiding the potholes (they are marked with day glo spray paint from the Engen race two weeks ago) just a word of warning - careful of the potholes on the bridges - yip the bridges - especially the one at la mercy as you come down the sibya hill at speed

Fortunately I gave him so much k%k on the Hub that I think I was the first person he did refund. Anyways I hope this race is a big success. We need some healthy competition in this country.... Now we need IM Bloemfontein next!

I like to drive through the route before hand to check out potholes, speedbumps, manhole covers etc. Don't see anything on the site, despite how pretty it is.
davem Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Athletes guide needs a lot of refinement: Quite a few contradictions. Different bike check in times, bag colours mixed up. Seems personal seconding is allowed at any waterpoint. But different rules for bike and run. Bike checkout is only at 16h00. Some okes will be finished by 12h00. Seems silly when everyone will be clear of T2 by 13h00. Cutoff times don't add up. Sent them details on Monday but the mistakes have not been corrected. Hopefully they sort out by Sunday.
