Ok, I almost fell there when they have just opened it up. Last Sunday I saw someone break their carbon frame while crossing it, and this Sunday I saw someone take a tumble. Anyone else been bothered by this piece of rail?

(About 2km before town)

Very well known area for breaking "things" Same can be said for any railway crossing, I suppose. But this particular crossing is very slippery, so we always warn each other, and always try and cross 90 degrees.

Which crossing is this exactly? I see they tarred over the one which you hit just after turning left back to the N2 from Franschoek.. Or is this the one on the left hand side going over a dirt road towards Paarl, closer to town?

I just know of some nasty lines just after Bridge House en route from Simondium side.

That is nothing compared to this one. The gaps are bigger and the angle makes it hard to cross perpendicular without veering into traffic.

If they dug it open, doesn't that mean that trains now can use it?

That would cause more than a cracked frame!

There is a tram running on that track now - http://winetram.co.za/.

So it might be a good idea to look left and right before crossing ...

Hahaha, do you want to donate your carbon frame for an experiment?

It is that tourist wine-tasting train thing they have during the summer. Apparently it runs only up to a few meters before the road, but does not cross it. You should be able to see the metal obstructions.
