I agree with Mampara, check out the Raleigh RC6000, if I remember correctly they're around that price but have Shimano 105's....

Worth a look before splashing out.

poenster, speak to your bank and organise a personal loan or overdraft. rather go a little higher than R7000 (you're paying this off anyway) and get minimum 105's. Trust me on this. To take an extra R1-2000 is gonna be worth it. The difference between Tiagra and 105 is huge.

I'm with the colonel here.  Being in the financial services industry I would never ever advise anyone to buy anything on credit - it is a vicious cycle (excuse the pun).  Rather save up for your bike and buy it cash.

I will pay it off quickly' date=' I just dont have that kind of cash lying around...

And I am tired of doing 100km's in just under 5 hours on my 13kg Mountain bike... not a lot of fun!!!  LOLLOL

I know a couple of guys that have done sub 3 94.7's on mtbs...

And 13kg's are not that heavy for a mtb.

why not buy a 2nd hand road bike that's probably better than the Merida and cheaper as well. Or buy parts over a couple of months and build the bike up, instead of taking out a loan.
