North Shore Posted July 1, 2013 Share Crankbrothers pedals (I've had two pairs of candys and eggbeaters) are honestly the most hateful, unreliable and rage inducing components I've ever had the displeasure of using. Sure they look great, their float is awesome (at first), but like clockwork after a couple of months of even moderate riding they come into their own: even after multiple rebuilds and two warrantee replacements they've induced nothing but hate on my part. Loving the Look S Track pedals, but without a doubt the shimano pedals (even the sub XT range) are the benchmark for reliability, although I prefer the float and clip in mechanism of the new Looks. arendoog
awesme Posted July 1, 2013 Share I'd add to the which Pedal, Yes to XT, but you get the small XT and the bigger flat Trail XT. wife and me on the trail design, nice for when you doing technical riding and want some size under feet without having to clip in, until you past the tech section, then clipping in G Thanx for confirming. XT it will be all the way
awesme Posted July 1, 2013 Share PS had / have a par of Crank Brother Candy 2's. lovely toclip out of, and guessing if you doing long distance and only clip in once, then fine, but no positive feedback that you actually clipped in. so if you doing riding where you clipping in and out regularly, maybe through a technical section. no lekker.(guessing it was also the wrong pedal for someone new to clipless) Went back to Shimano SPD's Trail XT's Shimano XT M785 Trail Wide Platform Pedals Easy to align your shoe, and then heal down.Oh, and if you trying to get someone new introduced to clipless, def look at using the Shimano Cleats SM-SH56 until confident, then switch to the standard cleats. Dubber88 Posted July 1, 2013 Share Will try to pick up a set of Quartz pedals on some clearance special somewhere if they're still available. Otherwise I wouldn't mind moving to S-Tracks, when the time comes. Feedback from riders is great.

Donovan Le Cok Posted July 2, 2013 Share If you don't like your shins go with the crankbrothers egg beaters. I rode them for years and have the scars to show it... I am loving my look s-tracks now!
