One thing I learned...

The stronger you get, the more you can choose at what intenity you will ride a particular hill. But you will still likely push it till it hurts (especially in the company of othe riders).

MTB: No matter how long or hard the climbs are just being on my bike is reward enough!

The beers and laughs post ride are also a good motivator!

…how to tuck and roll…

Two weeks ago someone asked me when last I fell off my bike. I said about 18 months. Since then two involuntary dismounts.

Never really tell your wife what the stuff costs.

It never gets easier, you only get faster.

Never change the colour of your bike. you can upgrade annually, no issues.

No, I think that is wrong. I am honest with my wife and she knows precisely that all new bikes cost R4000, all stage races R1000 and one day races R100. No need to over complicate the matter. ;)

That one NEVER works for me. Somehow when I turn around, 10 mins later the wind will turn...

That's the swirling winds in the Paarl Valley - like the kickers complaining at Newlands rugby stadium.

In return, I know all her shoes cost R500 a pair, dresses R1000 each and cosmetics and perfume R100 a bottle.
