All this blind faith being posted just reminds me of the religious people on the atheist thread.

a helmet is desined to compress or in some cases depending on impact break thats how it absorbes the shock.

cheap lids tend to just break but more expensive lids do a little more buy compressing before breaking ( thus the reason you pay top dollar for good lids ).

 

So if you are happy to have your pip crack or compress when you fall , go for it ! just do a good job so that no one in your family has to feed you and change your nappies for the rest of your life , couse thats not fair on them .

It is not blind faith, it is called physics and structural engineering. I am by no means an expert, but I know enough for this to make sense, and what you are saying to be utter bollocks to me.

I actually don't think I've totally made up my mind about this. (Which explains why I send so much time reading dry scientific papers on the topic.) Yet no one (except me) has posted anything supporting helmet use other than blind faith, advertising campaigns, and anecdotal evidence.

you know maybe you guys should back off maybe there is a valid point at hand about riding without a helmet, lets rather let the OP carry on "testing" how effective it is to ride without a helmet, don't be so quick to judge, OP test away

Just so we are clear, I don't mind, and do wear a helmet when riding for sport (training and racing.) But I don't wear a helmet when commuting.

 

If people had any savvy, and I mean real savvy and insight with a bit of hope, they wouldn't flame you but actually leave you to your own devices.
