So I have dug out this old thread to ask if anyone has a clear understanding of how the names on the hub works. Just want to point out:

member posts a Bike for ages in the classifieds. The Bike is overpriced but creates a second and third username to comment on the Bike and it's "amazing" deal". borderline unethical? is there a rule for it on the hub. (please note I'm not saying he is a scammer)

Ya maybe. Pics of all the bikes are so similar tho (from the different names) and so are the way they are advertised

Well unfortunately it does not matter how many measurements you put in place scammers will also try to find the loop hole. However implementing more measurements makes it more difficult for them.

At the end of the day we need to educate ourselves against these people as there are many forums with the same issue.

I'm not saying he is scamming with his products, more trying to establish if the way he is doing it is acceptable. I send a lot of family and friends the hubs way to find a deal, they often base their decision on the comments left on the ad as I'm sure some newbies do.

But again I don't really have proof of any wrong doing, rather trying to establish what the precedent is

How do you guys feel about something being bought on here and then advertised and sold as bought the next day for a profit??

Pure opportunism: the joys of a free market. No ethical dilemma despite it 'feeling' off. The original seller will rightfully feel somewhat screwed over, by him/herself! ^_^

Ya it does suck to miss an upgrade opportunity and then see it a few days later again for a few bucks more, but the answers are always along the free-market type lines. #getitbeforeChristmas

I don't like it. Obviously it is "fair game", but I wouldn't sell to them...

I see no problem.

I have sold numerous items here that ended up on the hub again a few days later at a slightly higher price. Some resold, other didn't. Doesn't worry me at all, so long as I get the price I ask for, the buyer can do whatever he wishes with it. (eg the Xmas Tree dude does it all the time)

If, however, it is a free item, and the taker resells it, well that is just not on.
