Sellers getting called out then changing name

I'm total pissed off with "heini11" who advertised a groupset for R4k, - I offered his asking price and he mailed back that all was good and he would contact me with payment details. The very next day the same parts were in a new ad' together with a set of wheels, I questioned this with "heini11" and he said, "no, the sale is still on, but can I not buy these wheels as well, ( another 10 K) I said no thanks but is the groupset is still on. he answered yes,. I believe he has realised that he could get more than original asking price and then snuck out of a completed deal. Now when I mail him I get no response. He has another "Bargain" up for grabs on todays ads.

Is this the kind of sales and ethics we have to expect from people on the Hub. People should do there homework 1st and get their price right. Not auction to the top bidder.

Seen sellers that have been on the hub for 3 years but selling stolen goods. There are a few of them here so you must be weary.Having said that there are also a lot of hubbers that dont mind buying stolen goods so it's a difficult one.

it will be awesome if everyone just participated, but they don't...I make a point of doing it when buying and selling

Go to the other adds and in the comments section note that the groupset is supposed to have been sold to you already

ITS NOT FOOL PROOF I know but its a good start,, which bike would you buy options below

seller A ; no avatar 1 post pinerello at less than half the going price

seller B ; a avatar, good ratings good couple of posts(so you can get a feeling about the hubber) and a realistic priced pinerello

And if you have a Pinarello Avatar ... all is good, you can buy all that sellers goodies. :D

Seriously though, I think name changing should not be an option ... you get to know the guys then all of a sudden some new tjop comments and we all get confused even though it is just the same old tjop.

Bikes that were advertised on the hub were stolen from lbs here in CT.Advert WAS reported to insurance investigators as well as cops investigating the case.Must admit even admin helped where he could with tracking hubber down. Not sure what has happened since then but I see this hubber still checks in every now and then, never saying anything tho.

Name changing is pretty much unethical - especially in the buyers/ sellers aspect!!

Name & shame and stop us from becomming a Gumtree circus...

oh ok!!!! STILL I WOULD NAME AND REPORT TO ADMIN they should ban guys like that, we will just end up with GUMTREE2 where you 90% sure the goods are stolen, or its a scam,,,otherwise surely the "BRAND THEHUBSA" DIES SLOWLY??

I have googled a few of the mobile no's of some of the sellers. That then links back to some old adverts on the hub and junkmail. Those ads were placed under other user names.

There was a old hubber selling fake wheels a while back so that means nothing anymore.

I've also experienced this, and I must say I didn't do what I should've, and that's to put a negative rating on the guy (it was just a set of Eggbeaters and I thought so be it, some more will come up). The price was agreed and deal done, but we had to wait a few days for one of the parts to come from somewhere. Anyway my comminications stopped bein answered... then a few weeks later I see them advertised ay a higher price! I was pleased to see nobody snapped them up.

Back to the point, if people know they're going to get a negative rating, they'll think twice before doing this.
