Don't underestimate the last part.... It's about 100km if flat!!! Sounds easy... There is a headwind mostly... And because it' flat... There is no rest... Then the last bit of climbing will suck your sense if humor out of the bones in your tired body... But when you finish... Euphoria!!!

Helpmytrap - What time are you going for?

To be honest I'm not sure yet but hopefully in about 14 hours.

I mean 15 hours.

Going for the win, I see! Just to give you an idea - Dan Craven did it in 14:54:33 last year with the help of a 4 man team that rode with him... Just saying...

I'm trying to call in a favour with one of the sponsor companies to see if I can get a 2 man entry ...

It sounds like an awesome race- how would it compare to Baviaans?

For one, it's bone dry! Not a river crossing in sight and it hasn't rained in the last 5 years I did it...

Then, it's 140km longer (obviously), but for a two man team that should not be an issue as you will each be doing only 220km/229km, depending on who does what stages. This is a relay, not a team event as the Baviaans.

For me the Baviaans was much easier...

So would the solo riders do the whole distance?

Solo riders do the full 370km. Teams ride the first and last stages together, but alternate riders on the 2nd to 5th stages.

Thanks guys - I'm gonna have to put the Solo on my bucket list!!

Yes, do it, ......it is a lot of pain, dust, wind, snot, stars, tears, gue and smiles, but the Hans Kolberg medals make it so worthwhile.

This year is my 3rd solo.......and yes , I feel already the butterflies!

Issssh, some people don't learn!!
