TBMTBC what you are not allowed to talk about on FB group

1. I don't think it is unreasonable for someone to query a piece of trail and make suggestions where safety is a concern...

2. is it being suggested the FB admin can't cope or is overworked to the point of being brash?

3. @Smimby, do you know for a fact that there are others who feel the same? Given that this number could be as small as 5%, means 95% of the members are satisfied. Why then such a delay to take care of such a small group?

4. If everybody agreed, what would drive progress?

I think part of the problem is that only 5 % are so vocal. If I listen to the circles I ride in (and I am driving the ladies group at the moment) many of the ppl I speak to are of a similar mind but don't know how to or if they should voice opinions. And no I haven't gone round and said I hate this and don't you think this is rubbish....

And btw its one of my good friends I watched go HOH on Burry Stander. Yes mayb cos she is a noob but she hit the ditch and to her the ditch caused her to fall (not the fact that she prob grabbed a handful of brakes and prevented the wheel from rolling out)

And I on my own cannot lift my bike over the step overs.

I don't know if it is workload or just personality but that is not real issue.

I know if a good number who feels the same as we do, but many say "I stay away from the FB page for the good of my blood pressure" "'n toe bek is a heel bek" etc

I think that that the FB page admin and in general the communication regarding everything happing should be looked at.

It seems that not all the committee members is in the picture, hence one says one thing and another something else.

I want a place where we can discuss a problem UNTIL we find a solution without name calling and phrases like "go ride on the road if you want signs"

For example, many people use the multiple bikes thing as an excuse to ride without a bike board, so lets find a solution, someone said use caribina, others said it damages the cable (fight broke out, name calling, post deleted) but how if we could keep talking about it....suggest and suggest and suggest and we find a solution for EVERYONE....

Rather than say "it is the rules", once we have covered all the angle using all the minds we should have a pretty good solution.

I also don't believe that we explore all possible solutions, we are to quick to accept when someone says THERE is NO other way.....

Don't recall anyone asking you to like them either buddy

You have made a lot of remarks but don't seem to like it if anyone else comments on anything that is not in your line of thinking.

I really have no problem with constructive communication but once the horse has been flogged to death and logical explanations supplied, can we then move on?

P.S. Will you please like me, I think you are cute?

I understand why we need wet trail ( to and extent now) but I know want to find a solution that we can have still do maintenance year round....hence asking what else can work....trailer with watertank? etc....

Any ideas from your side? maybe one of those petrol stampers things? Will it help during summer?

What do you think of the adding a step to the fence climb overs so short people can get over? Maybe with a little platform just big enough to hold your bike? or a hook on a pole to hook your front wheel into and then you can swivel your bike across.....again thinking of the ladies and people with a bad back?

Maybe some engineers have more other ideas?

I actually meant to come back to you on the step, I also find it quite daunting to get across those wooden steps maybe a piece of rubber to give you a sure footing or a small platform to assist those who battle with their bikes.

I really do understand your concerns but I just feel that we can only make suggestions and if they are not used, well then so be it.

The club cannot please everyone and as much as your idea of discussion till we find a answer sound great we both know that we will never come to a decision because someone will always be dissatisfied.

We chose a committee to act on our behalf and do what is in the best interest for the club, they are doing what they think is right and have appointed the trail builder that they feel is capable to do the job. If at the end of their term in office we as the club members are not happy with their performance well then we can replace them with people we feel are better suited to the job. Lets give them a chance till the end of their term and then we can do what the members feel is right?

You and me share the same passion for this club, I just do not think that a public platform is the right place to address these issues.

I gave up reading after page8. Here are a few things:

1. I was a member of the "Club" a long time ago when things started and all was good....

2. I do not ride there often so am no longer a member and now buy permits and use the honesty boxes.

3. It is MTB, if you cant ride the routes DON'T it is MTB after all.

4. If it is such an issue why not do what Botlary hills does. No club, You purchase a permit for the year, No permit No ride., If you don't like it too bad. Get security personnel to check for membership and escort non compliant members off the route.

Otherwise you have 2 options:

1. don't join the club and don't ride the routes

2. Mobilize your mates and take over the club at the AGM.

Bottom line they are doing an awesome job on the routes and they are all p*ss easy except for maybe, the black route and they are super well maintained. What more do you want?

The trails there rock, well they did until a month ago, the last time I was there.

I don't recommend you volunteer to do some digging (proper, not fooling around with dust) in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb. It is hard work.

to slow water penetration rate and to much water required (time, cost effective and all that MBA other stuff)

Let it go and use the 'off' months for the politics.

So how does one address anything or ask questions if no one on the committee is willing to respond?

Why do you need year round maintenance, just get everyone to ride the trails properly and not drag the rear wheels around every corner etc. that is what kills the trails, and even then, in the old days we used to say the trails had been ridden in and added more of a challenge. I do not understand.........

Unfortunately I have no answer to this question, the few times I have had a query or question for the committee I have been able to phone them or E-mail and have received a response(maybe I was just lucky).

My recommendation to the "Club":

1. Kill the club at the year end

2. Get up a trail management team

3. Charge to ride the trails: day permits, 1/2 year permit and full year permit

4. No correspondence will be entered into

5. Have a security and marshals team to patrol and check the routes. there are easy points to control this.

All problems will be solved! Easy !!!!

If someone don't like it tuff

Well that is another issue. How DO we educate people? Signage? Maybe

But what about the great number of newbies every weekend?

good idea. Then it is no longer a club but a business. And we can pay as we ride. So if we don't like a section we go ride another farm.

Maybe that is the best thing to do....let people wallets talk.

The need for year round maintenance was the Epic last year. That hurt the trails.
