Can anyone help, I did something very stupid, feels like it though.

I crashed over the weekend with my mtb, and my hanger bend. This morning I wanted to remove my RD from the hanger, to take the hanger in and get replaced.

However I battled to remove the RD, it screw out a bit, but then it started to feel very tight and I kept turning. Seems like I stripped nut?

Are my RD now doomed or can it be saved?

Your inputs are all appreciated.

Probably bent the threads inside the hanger which is holding onto the RD now.

You will have to take the hanger off with the RD attached, and somehow saw/file/cut through the hanger to get the RD out.

Did you strip the thread on the hanger or on the RD?

If you are lucky and the thread on the hanger only, is stripped, you may be able to 're-thread' it by turning the RD bolt in from the other side ( cassette side) and cutting the thread again, I have done this recently and worked fine. Bit of a gamble.

It is usually the hanger thread that strips as it is softer. You could use a SS conversion kit tensioner bolt also to re-thread.

Thanks guys, I think I have stripped the part where the allen key goes in, in the RD. but will take it off with the hanger and inspect.

seems like won't be able to afford xo stuff anymore, X9 stuff will have to do.

1) If you can't turn the RD out far enough, you probably won't be able to pop the circlip to get take the mounting bolt out. I'm speaking if SRAM is the same as Shimano in that regard.

2) Nothing wrong with X9.

There's your problem. SRAM uses Torx there, I think.
