Too ,many people run after components.

A good bike is all about the overall ride quality and the cycling experience.

The top of the line shifters certainly won't make a bike ride better

Completely agree with you.... I really don't understand why people chase components.... They are consumables.... When you buy a bike you buy development, design and frame material first....

XX1 on a krap frame means nothing...X7 on a stumpjumper? That's a gem right there.

Sorry Mate not generalising. Just know this dude, rides a very cool Spez, wears spez shoes, jersey, gloves and the whole scene. I think if he tells me again what it all cost I will head butt him. Although Ive told him that I dont frikken care what it costs, he insists on telling me. God help me if he pitches up with a new pair of spez socks on. Ill be told about the whole transaction a hundred times. It put me so off that I dont want to ride a Spez. It could however be a underlying jealousy issue.

My cousin worked in a bike shop in the UK after school. So when I started cycling I knew nothing about bikes, really nothing. I asked him what he would recommend, He told me, get a Specialized, they have the least issues on those frames and bikes, and if they do give ***, Spez will sort out your problem in a heartbeat. Been riding Spez since then, people always assume they cost so much money. But in actual fact they are very similar in price to the Meridas and Giants and Scotts. Bonus for me is that they also make quality shoes, incredible helmets, bibs, clothing, gloves etc etc. So when I buy a new bike I usually buy a piece of kit, helmet or shoes or something and then get crazy discount because you are also buying a bike. Works for me. You will always have haters, they dont phase me. If Spez had to go bankrupt and I have to buy another bike, it would be a Momsen, they are just so sexy.

That's because people look at components and compare to other models. Specialized focus on the frame, then spec the bike. They don't need good components to sell a bike.

I'm not going to brand bash, I don't want the fan boys to come in their hordes.... But my fiancé has a R6k spez with V brakes, that bike rides like a dream, better than a bike double it's price range...... Eye opener to me.... You really don't need to be riding with a 20k group set with the quality of mid range sets like X7 and SLX these days.

I also dont brand bash, you do get better value than Spez no doubt. Would I want a Huyndai or Kia instead of my golf gti, no. Do I think they are bad cars, no. I just want the original thoroughbred, thats what Spez is. In this case I am 100 percent sure he made the right choice. Enjoy your bike T-man.
