Cycling Clubs and Cyclists beware!!! The Hi jackers are here!

Incorrect we never had an agreement with ASG., but with Mr de Villiers and his events company. How ASG got involved is still not know...and no we actually know exactly how much is made and how much we received, hence why out agreement was only for a set period to start with.

Many commercial agreements have clauses about successors in title so the fact that you didn't have an agreement with ASG doesn't matter if Mr. de Villiers or his events company later gets bought by ASG or is somehow incorporated into ASG. The successors in title clause would provide for that and things would continue as they have for the duration of the agreement. Just with ASG substituted for Mr. de Villiers' events company.

Would it not just be easier, and probably cheaper, for your club to organise your own new race? Especially if you say that financially it would be better. There are many other dates you could host it and if you brought something different to the cycle race market then it would attract riders without a problem.

I think this is their new event - https://secure.onreg.com/onreg2/front/step1.php?id=1988

Unconfirmed - I asked the question but no response.

Thanks for the link. It looks like it could be judging from the images on the page. But then why raise the Jakaranda Satellite race issue yet again if they already have a new event instead of just moving on and focusing on the new event?

That was silly.

Yes it is. You get R10 for every rider that enters a race that you do no work for, can advertise at etc.

Only R 10 a rider x 1000 riders = R 10 000.00. How much did the organiser make? A pretty penny. You can make that with a silly around the church event with 140 entries organised by 5 people.

That is why they are crying now because they sold their goose and golden egg. An all this you got because you were either to lazy to do the work your selves or you did not know how to secure the sponsors etc.

Really only ten rand a rider? Your previous own organised race was how much in the Telkom days when there were allegations of hundreds of thousands that was channelled in the wrong direction.

Are you upset because the organiser saw a good opportunity to make really good money?

I agree. The new event is not properly advertised, I stumbled upon the link on championchip site. I saw a pamphlet then tried to find the event using google, looked on jacaranda cycling club website but couldn't find anything.

Probably because they are pissed at losing an event they built up for over a decade? They've also lost their calendar date, their route, their Cycle Challenge and Argus seeding status...

Hopefully they can build it back up, but yeah, must be a tough pill to swallow

Proof that they need someone to do it for them. You can phone me. I will pay R 11.00 a rider........

Slam dunk. Give the 2013 race back to the club. Even if you turned it around from the brink of collapse and made a massive success of it the agreement is in black and white. Maybe a bit more profit sharing and the club would have been open to a contract extension.

Was that not on the cards and the club wanted way too much?

Well I didn't even know about and still wouldn't know about it if you hadn't posted the link.

Just looking at that route map gives me shivers remembering the road of the first 8km while going to the Trailseeker event in Cullinan.

The "new" event is less than 2 weeks away and no one knows about it. Yes continue to fight the battle for the "old" race if you want to but surely the "new" event is not going to market/advertise itself?

Exactly. It might just be a better idea to focus on marketing the new event and let it be known that it is happening.

Since we discussing it now and making people aware of it we should get our cut of the profits. How many Rand per rider should we ask for?

I'll take a free entry. (provided there are other riders of course)
