So how was your Karoo to Coast?

2013 Karoo to Coast done and dusted. How was the event for you and why do you think it is so popular. This is not your favourite Mtb route with no singletrack and all the things mountainbikers always rave about, not to talk about the logistical nightmare. Despite this the K2C must be one of the biggest events on the calendar. What do you say?

I had a nightmare, cooked my brakes at around 35ks, magivered the calipers and rode to about 60ks then packed it in.

4000 riders is too many, I think they should cap it at 2000, apparently the last few groups walked up the first climb

It is obvious that I am waisting my time...

One Scott scale 920 for sale. Al most brand new. Bit dusty after the last ride.

I am taking up bowls.

Had a tough day out there myself. Went to do about 5-5:15 but got a 5:51. Had no legs after 50 kms. I enjoy the race. I just wish there was a cure for douche bags, up the Wa pad you have guys shouting left shouting right and just causing more havoc than anything and also throwing unnecessary comments at the more patient riders. Some of the walkers could maybe also move right off the track because some of the guys were walking up the middle of the track.

Other than that I think it's a nice race to do once a year

My best was the guy who came barging to the front of the Racetec queue shouting" let me in, let me in, I'm an Elite, I'm an Elite"

Douche deluxe Mate. If you are so important, wake up earlier or join the queue. There were a few other guys with early starting times waiting.

Or the guy going up the long hill at about 55km, who dropped something. When I pointed this out to him, he said "yeah, my gel packet. It's empty"

I agree, it is a nice ride to mark the start of summer and gives some structure to winter training. And you can pace yourself depending on how contentious you were.

Oh, and I met my wife when doing the race in 2004 so it has some other significance too......

Never buy a sub entry again, bought a sub entry, and friends did the sub for us on sat. Got told we are riding the numbers that we bought, so we started in the last group , and had to walk up ou wa pad, really frustrating, with people stopping and taking off jackets etc. tried to put the hammer down for the rest of the race , and came in just under 5hrs. Wanted a 4:30 but i keep telling myself it is because of the walk up ou wa pad.lol Also so a specialized craze oke who threw empty gu papers in the bush , i asked him wtf dude?? And got told who said he may not do it??? Nr 5456!!!

My first K2C. Was awesome. The elite bunch was super fast, especially on those downhills (nvm the uphills haha).

First time ever cramping, don't think my training was enough for that distance!

Very fun and fast race. Cool vibe too!

Really don't appreciate people throwing their wrappers down. Especially not in that beautiful Knysna forest...

Ditto............also got sub entry and started in last group. Was super frustrated going up ou wa pad. Also came in just under 5, so we must have been very close to each other. Since I was down in the Western Cape for work I am glad I did the race, but will not do K2c again.
