Narrow Wide Chainring Question

With the chain being held a bit tighter because of the wider teeth on the chainring will it not add resistance in the pedal stroke? Obviously it would be minimal.

 

@Patches, could you recommend an appropriate RD for this setup. My current RD is a SRAM X7 which I am perfectly happy with but a clutch derailleur would be better.

Just phone them and ask if you can make an arrangement to swap, seeing as you thought you were buying the narrow wide ring.

SRAM X7 or X9 type 2 rear derailleur would be best, but try it with your normal one first. Many of the reports and tests had hardtail a hooked up with a non clutch rd and still had no drops. If you don't have a clutch rd though, chain length is critical.
