Mrs Velouria also played 'litter monitor' today, and saw one chap toss his empty gel sachet away. She shouted at him and told him to stop littering, and he was quite apologetic. However, an hour later she saw him do the same thing again. Her riding partner is going to send PPA an email tomorrow morning with his details. Let's see what happens.

Name and Shame! I love it.

Now for PPA to follow up with something, like calling thier names and numbers out at the next start line.

The one time I plucked up enough courage to speak to someone after he chucked something into the bushes, it turns out it was his energy bar, but he kept his wrapper to show me. Doh!

The cyclists actually get quite abusive if you take them on about it.  I was given a lot of flack by 1 oke and 1 lady when I "mentioned" that they should maybe carry their empty sachets with them.

I rode in E cat today & was amazed when these 2 riders nonchalantly threw their empty gel sachets away. Both riders were unapologetic when spoken to regarding their actions.

How do we get riders to stop littering whilst riding?

Report this.  PM me the details and I will make an official report to the Chairman of the PPA.  These riders do get spoken to, and warned.  If the rider transgresses again, the PPA will take disciplinary action.  If you do see this happening at funrides, take the number, report to any PPA marshal afterwards.

i hate it if people throw energy sachets along the road so i dont do it myself. but i'm guilty of throwing my banana on the side of the road, does that count as litter? if so i will stop immediately

it happens everywhere.. people just throw their gel/bar wrappers along the roadside.. its terrible..  seriously.. that additional 1g is not going to slow you down that much..

BMC.. i doubt a bio-degradable  banana peel is the same thing!
