Painting people who ride the spruit with the same brush.

IMO you Dangle / Wyatt are nothing but a hypocritical troll.

The thread was doing just fine until you came in with your six shooters blazing...

I was waiting for you, is that all you have ?

Eish....no thanks. Won't even consider them then

What fluid does your car brake system work on?

I have dripped DOT on my paint several time and just wiped it off, this was over 2 years ago and the paint is still on?

Yeah, I work with dot all day, a quick wipe and all is sorted, leave it there and you have an issue.

I think at best you'll find a couple of unpopped kernels at the bottom of the box.

Those are the best bits of popcorn.

I always just hose the brake area down again with water if I have rebled using DOT ... works like a charm

Why would anyone leave a drop of oil on anything it is not meant to be on?

you know if you leave a drop of sunlight on almost anything it will also damage it!

But after a while (like a couple of years) you do notice some paint corrosion around the top caps of the older Avid or Hayes brakes ... But thats after 5 years ... so by that stage I think you could expect that sort of wear and tear

No one want to hear about you bleeding brakes. What we want to know is when the new ********* arrives.

Are you trying to be funny, facetious or actually in discussion ?

My Hopes are M4's I purchased them from a fellow Hubber who chooses to ride more XC orientated trails and felt that the brakes had too much stopping power for the type of riding he was doing. I gladly bought them from him at a good price.

The M4 build & feel is awesome! The modulation and ease of bleeding is something I have not experienced from other brake manufacturers. That said I still feel my old (I'm so embarrassed to say this but it's true...) Avid Elixir CRs had more stopping power. This could however be due to the organic pads that came with the M4's. New sintered pads are going in soon and I'll report back after Malelane if I survive.

This is what they looked like...

I've now swapped the green bits for black bits but don't have a pic to prove this.

Bled mine on friday night (I got to Critical Mass too late, so turned around and deemed the evening "Bike Maintenance Night", haha)

But yeah, Hopes are super easy to bleed. As for the dangerous DOT, I simply wrap some disposible cloth around the lever and bar in such a manner that if the reservior spills, it's not on a Fukushima scale.
