No, that is right. A lot of the sections we ride is part of the old bunkers. They only took the fences down a couple of months ago to make the reserve a bigger area, but the land is still segemented.

Plans to reduce the reserve down to around 275 ha has been around for a while with Heartland. The new fences bore testimony to this... This is way smaller than the one where the MTB trails are at the moment Makes me think that this purchase has been on the cards for some time. Would have bought AECI shares if I knew

Heartland have always had plans to develop the Modderfontein North area where we ride. Was supposed to be a golf estate with MTB trail on perimeter. But now I guess the Chinese will decide how to develop it. The 275 ha reserve is likely to be off limits to cyclists. Already the birders, runners etc are annoyed by cyclists who ignore signage to stay off walking trails. And it's too small an area for MTB. So we should enjoy Modderfontein while we can.

Flip i never realised how much land was involved in this deal, been a scale from the vale this makes me pretty nervous.
