Helmet replacement?

Recommended Posts

When I went over the top of my handle bars at Down & Dirty this past weekend two things happened.

I hit my head quite hard on the right hand side of my helmet. Not hard enough to loose consciousness but I definitely would of had I not had a helmet on.

I reckon I came of at about 30 km/hr.

Reckon I should replace my helmet? Nothing appears to be broken on the helmet.

I have never believed in skimping on helmets

Depending on what helmet it is, you'll probably get a discount on a new one if you take the trashed one with you.

Muggins, I ride trials (jumping onto, over and off of stuff), so I do tend to land on my head every now and again. And after every big crash on my head, if the finances allows it, I try and replace the helmet. Rather safe than sorry!!!!

So if you can afford it rather replace it. You only have one head!!

I will look at new ones the weekend.

I can't ride anyway. Tore my right shoulder ligaments in the same fall.

Any suggestions on helmets. Let's say R2500.00 budget.

I don't believe in skimping on helmets because of what it protects. If you listen to my wife she will say I only have 2 brain cells so I have to protect them at any cost.

Try a RP Sterling or windmax.

Hi, Went over handlebars the past weekend as well and hit my head.

Lost consciousness and saw after that I have real damage to helmet although I am OK now. Very glad about wearing my helmet.

It is a bell and they have crash warrantee which I was not aware of so getting new one at 30% of the price.

They just wanted the old one, which is in pieces any way.

The manufacturers normally says to replace after any hard impact.
