so i cooked my roval carbon trail sl rims this weekend (car exhaust) :( after getting my bike on thursday (secondhand). Question now, do i just get new same same rims, do i go for another (alu) rim or do i just get another set of wheels like Mavic cmax slr? People speak highly of the roval carbon wheels but question on carbon reliability?

It's me!

First thing I would do is check to see if my insurance will pay out - surely "all risks" is "ALL risks"?

If not check out these alu uberwheels - www.citec.de

If you're keen drop me a PM.

Now let's all take a moment to reflect on a lost set of carbon wheels...

tx do you sell the rims alone, if so will they go with the roval hubs and stuff and how much?

I can get the rims seperately but they're 18/24 hole so only the front will work...your rear is 28 hole right?

My recommendation would be to try and source some new roval rims and have them rebuilt. You may have to sell your mother :-)

If you only want to sell a sibling perhaps the Trail AL rims will work on that wheelset?

What did insurance say? I arill reckon that will be the best option.

Anyone know who the local roval importer is? I've had a quick google but no dice....

tx after chatting to a few people sounds best to go for a pair of decent alu rims that go with the hubs. still waiting for insurance for feedback, see no reason why they should not cover

ENVE rims.......that's all i can say for carbon rims.

Surely you can get an enve, Reynolds or another roval rim only for around 6k.

Check out ebay and shop around.

Ageed with Wyatt, wheel builder is your next issue.

while you are at it: get a new bike rack that does not place your bike in such a way that the exhaust blows hot air straight onto your wheel. Had a similar incident many moons ago with an alu wheelset. Decided after that to get a proper platform bike rack.
