Johan Bornmann from "yellow saddle" carries the Enduro seal range and imports directly from the USA. He has spent time cross referencing Fox & Rockshox part numbers and can offer identical aftermarket seal kits.

I tried this and talk about an epic failure - one bearing came out with a light tap - the other not so much..

A light tap turned into a firm tap into a light hammering into a firm hammering into a bringonthebiggesthammryoucanfindanddonderitintonexttuesday...

Needless to say eventually the alu cup was poked and I filed the project under "Epic Failures".

I bought a new BB but will try the bearing replacement on the next knackered one. Hopefully it won't be as seized.

In retrospect maybe some penetrating spray would have worked better than my temper ;-)

What about this tool.

Sick of replacing an entire external bottom bracket every time the bearings wear out? Race Face has the answer! Our new bottom bracket tool lets you easily replace the bearings, races and seals in our Race Face X-type bottom brackets.

In addition:

?  The tool is compatible with most Shimano and FSA external bottom brackets

?  Does not require a vice or press to use

I got went and got the tool from enduro seals.com

I find it really works well and replacing BB bearings takes about 2 min a cup.

You can use 2 types of bearings when replacing them, depending on the seals ...

The standard bearing code is - 6805 LLU

Enduro use a slightly thicker one but this requires you to use there own seal interface and not the standard Shimano/Raceface cover.

Did this yesterday with 2 sockets, a hammer and a vice. So easy it's a joke. Cost me R230 for a pair of top-end Japanese bearings and about 15 minutes of my time, including finding the toolbox...

Hi. Did the bearing replacement. All good.

Only problem is the crank won't go though the bearings. I know that the problem is not with the size of the bearings but rather with the crank as it was a struggle to get it out as well. Has this happened to anyone. Any suggestions on how to fix this.

p.s. It fits through the bearings fine, but when the plstic caps have been replaced it won't budge.

LX , XT , XTR crank ? It should be a tight fit but you should be able to get it in and out with a light tap from a mullet . I assume you using the same plastic inserts that came out when you removed the caps ?

Hi Dirt-Rider

Its an xt crank. I know what its supposed to feel like and it is def not like that. When I tried to pull them out as well. I have taken them out and a few times but this has never happened. I am using the same plastic inserts.
