Hi Joe

Check out strava under the explore tab then scroll on the map to the country club and you will see all the racing snakes times off hand I would guess 15km/h ave is a fast pace

Craig, Yes. Go through the boom sharp left, down the dirt road parrallel to the fence. At the steel gate press the button on the right and it will slide open. once through close it and just follow the signes.

Rode the trail on Tuesday pm. Very nice. Tight and therefore quite technical, but enjoyable. Didn't time it and don't use Strava, but a high speed very difficult. Good workout though.

I find a good way to measure my performance in the tight single track ONLY is to start the timer at the first MTB sign going into the trail (bush section over the log) and stop the clock at the exit of the trail (grass section). My best is 25.50min / 5.94km / 13.8km/hr. Sorry, not a Strava dude...

Good workout!

Thanks all for the feedback regarding average times (pace) etc. To be honest, i am little skeptical about using Strava, any comment on the accuracy? Especially considering the track is so tight and twisty...

I am using an o_synce minifree cycling computer and it seems to be working great...its a wireless model too so its a bliss so far. I rode Sat morning at around 7am and from parking lot to parking lot i recorded a 13.5km run (approximately 2.6km of NEW fresh track) at an average speed of 14.5km/hr...none of my mates have cycling computers so i couldnt validate the accuracy.

I suppose when the Benoni CC MTB cycling club gets going that there will be a lot more accurate data and ability to see what is considered fast, medium or slow.

@ Joe> Download strava onto your phone

Thanks for the advice, however i have an o_synce cycling computer which i use. Concerned about the accuracy of Strava...your thoughts?

Strava accuracy depends on your device. Although gps based distance recording will always be more accurate than any wheel magnet based system due to different wheel sizes that can be programmed in(tyre pressure and tread will change constantly)

Gps is based on the device movement rather than a single setting.

Report back on the extended BCC trail:

VERY NICE chaps! Rode this afternoon - Garmin says 10.83km with an average of 15.1 km/hr (gate to gate). Bit of loose sand around with a scary floating log, so took it easy through the new section.Bailed twice over the bars on Thursday's Winter Fast One race, so don't need any more body marks...

New section flows faster with a few little surprises to keep up the concentration.

Hats off to guys putting in the hard work so all MTB riders can benefit and enjoy. The trail is really taking shape! Suggest we name this trail after the builder!

Many thanks!
