  1. So I went with a Power2Max and this weekend will be the first test Still curious to know who uses pedal smoothness and L-R balance and if it's worth the upgrade?
  2. I would say looking back after my recent purchases, the thing I feel is most important to me now, would be after sales service. I bought a Scott and now I end up taking it back to a local Specialized store for services etc. I've tried several other shops in my area and no one provided the quality service that they do. There is no "best bike" - so go with the bike that gives you the best experience (not just on the bike)
  3. If you're not a fan of Garmin devices, the Polar Vantage is also a decent option
  4. I like it! The lefty brand should detach from Cannondale IMO
  5. I tried getting a lottery entry, but no luck... How late could one leave it to get an entry for the next year?
  6. Finn has improved every round so far, so if he keeps that up he should have a top 3 position!
  7. Has anyone seen any of those Syncros carbon integrated cockpit handlebars for sale at any shops locally or online?
  8. Most pro bikes are sub 10kg...
  9. The Canyon Lux is a bike you don't see every day
  10. Curious to know why? I have a Scott, but really like the Stage Max...
  11. I clean it after every ride... I'd like to believe it's because I drop heavy watt bombs!
  12. Did you check the wear on the chain with a tool, or just estimating? My last GX Eagle chain was well worn by about 1300kms and I really take care of my drive train. Rather replace the chain, than causing wear on your cassette. As for the salvage chain, just check the wear on that chain too. If the chain is too far gone then it's probably not the best way to go, but if your chain is also close to end of life then I guess it's all the same.
  13. I think this could be interesting, seeing as the current iteration of the Scott Spark has been around for a while and something new should be coming out sooner than later, but how do you change something that just wins everything? I think the hidden shock from Bold will be just that! link to article
  14. Thanks for all the responses. The battery is something to consider, but doesn't seem like a huge issue. The only time I've seen a P2M unit on a bike and asked the owner about it he mentioned that they broke the clips on the cover of the battery housing. Is this just user error or a common occurrence? It's going on a Scott Spark with a DUB BB and Boost chainline, so good for either option. If I get the Quarq the plan is to sell my current (3 bolt) XX1 cranks to make up some of the cost. I hear you and I agree this is the case when you compare normal recommended retail pricing, but with current specials out there on the Quarq, they actually work out exactly the same when you take into account the 3 metrics I would buy separately on the P2M and the money I make up by selling my existing cranks. This is something I really have no idea about. How useful is it to know your L:R balance, torque and pedal smoothness?
  15. I'm ready to pull the trigger on a power meter, but it's such an expensive piece of kit that I want to be sure I've considered everything before I buy. Thing is, I just don't really know enough about living with either unit to really know what I should be considering... I'm looking at the Quarq XX1 Eagle DUB Boost power meter with cranks or the Power2Max NG Eco equivalent (I already have XX1 cranks.) The Quarq is slightly more expensive, but I can always sell my existing XX1 cranks to make up the difference. From what I can tell both seem to perform perfectly fine, but it would be great to hear feedback from someone who has experience with both. Any other advice would be appreciated!
  16. I'd like to do it for the experience and the adventure, pretty sure there will a positive experience for every negative, so I don't get hung up on stuff like this. Although you get chops everywhere! Some chop at Sani shouted at my wife to get out of their way on the flat single track only to hold us up on the technical downhill switchbacks shortly after. I made sure he regretted that mistake nothing makes you as uncomfortable as hearing someone's hub ticking and braking heavily behind you. We didn't see them again. Probably makes me a chop as well.
  17. Sounds like a truly eventful event! Since we can't predict the future, I guess I'll have to pick one and hope for the best.
  18. From what the website shows, the women race is the first one, mens race is the last one... so fun and games in-between. Can I assume the Pinotage event is like the Sani Adventure event? Everyone said the Adventure has the best vibe! Seeing as all three are in the same week, weather shouldn't differ much? About as helpful as the entry website...
  19. What's the difference between the 3 W2W events?
  20. "Series rewards consistency," but the series champion doesn't get much recognition without getting colours. The person asking me this doesn't know any of the riders, so it was hard to explain that Neff was actually just as good as KC. That was the part I couldn't really answer, because it doesn't really make sense. To be fair, I get that being the series champion is also a great achievement! I just thought I was missing something.
  21. How does the world cup differ from the world championship, when only the winner of the world championship wears the rainbow colours? Is there some sort of recognition for being the overall winner of the world cup series? How about for a single race? Someone asked me these questions this weekend and I didn't really have a good answer
  22. Bike addict has it on financing - https://bike-addict.co.za/products/wahoo-kickr-4-smart-trainer?variant=8740247011438 Your money, spend it the way you want to...
  23. Mind explaining this? 50mm as apposed to? And what would you say the travel up front should be 100/120mm?
