Hi

 

I have been riding a compact crank all this while (85kg). i got a new groupset and its not a compact. now i am in a small dilemma... should i get a compact or a 52/36 crankset?

 

i am using ultegra 10speed

No dilemma, just use your new one and take a few weeks to get used to it. Let your legs do the thinking... :P

 

Is your new group set crank 52/36

What rear cassette ratio's do you have?

Find an online gear ratio comparison and compare what you had to what you have, maybe its not as bad as you suspect.

i am a very heavy dude. need those light gears to get to the top of hills.

i think i am going to try out the standard crank with a 11/28 cassette and see how i manage

Keep in mind (ask your LBS or maybe someone here that knows for sure will respond to this) that you MIGHT need to change your rear derailleur if you go to a larger cassette (28T) than what is on the bike now

think it should be okay. i am on the old 7800 Dura ace and only had to tune gears a bit
