Thx for the feedback!!

I'm making a list of cheapy Fatty's that I know that's available in SA now, please add to my list....decision time....Thx!!

This will be a once in a week play bike, so I don't care to much about components, as long as the frame and fork last!

Titan Whopper Sport R9000

Mongoose Argus R11500

I'm not too familiar with the 'regular' bike brands that make fat bikes - sorry.

Most of my research etc was done around the traditional fat bike manufacturers that where making fattys before the regular brands jumped on the band wagon. The likes of Surly, Salsa, 9ZERO7, On One etc... none of who really do a budget option. Although the On One does come in on special from time to time, but they temporarily do not ship to SA at the moment.

Ok, so compared to the On One Fatty, my Krampus is only chubby but my general riding experience is very similar. Its a bit harder to get up the hills and to get it rolling, but the downhills are awesome. I find myself braking much later for corners and trusting the extra traction to get me through. I also find it a lot easier to hop and jump obstacles than my other 29ers

Hey man - that Krampus is a fatty - many 26" fattys running 3.0" tyres  . I just wanted to highlight to Frohan that it requires 29x3.0" where the traditional fat bike will be 26x3.0"/ 4.0"/ 5.0"...

The traction aspect is one to get used to. I too tend to brake much later in to corners on the Fatty. I also find there is less of a need to 'steer' with the handle bars and tend to lean more and reply on the traction to pull you around corners.

I'm toying with the idea of replacing my 70mm rims with 50mm ones - still running the 4.0" tyres. It gives a nice balloon shape to the tyre...

Guys, some advice please, I'm 179cm tall, riding a large Cannondale 29'er Flash and can't decide on what size I must go with the Silverback Double Scoop.

The fat bike will be used for fun, not for riding 3 hours on a gravel road.

What do you think...???

The seat tube is: medium 430mm, large 480mm, my Cannondale 475mm

The top tube are measured different than the Cannondale so its difficult to compare, but I made a drawing and it look as if the medium is 34mm longer and large 49mm longer than my Cannondale.

If I sit on my Cannondale my front axle is visible behind my handle bar, meaning the bike is actually a bit to long/big for me, although now after about 3 months its setup nicely and I am very comfortable on it.

What do you suggest with the Fatbike?

Then measure them the same way yourself. Perhaps try measure the ETT to get an idea against your Cannondale.

Best bet though is to physically get onto the fatbike.

I had to put an order in now, so cant realy sit and get a feel of the bike. I did eventually measure myself and went for the medium, if its really to small I will just have to wait for another shipment...Thx for the advice, now the end of November must just come quickly!!!
