Keen for this,

Who has done the 80km on a rigid and just how tough is it.

Only long one I have done is Lionman and that was super tough for me.

Yes...it is tough I am not going to lie...singlespeeding is ok, its the terrain that is relentless on your body with a rigid that hurt me....but it is a lekker hurt

Wont do singlespeed,

1x9 for me.

Just need to get the fork (JCMeyer I still have to measure) and then find myself a pair of big boy panties.

Singlespeed isn't the issue, the climbs aren't ubber steep, just long. But ja, kidney belt would be a great accessory, I have to say though....its the flippen awesome race...humbles you quick quick

I ride the area every now and then so know roughly what is in store for me.

climbs wont be an issue on a sub 8kg steed, but I know the downhills are going to break me a bit.

Will need to go for a good massage the day after.

Sub 8 kg Steed, damn mine is almost double that.

It sits at 9.2kg's now in race mode.

With dropping the fork and going to 1*9 it will be just under 8kg's.

Might use the stronger XT's with chunky tires for this race though so 8.5kg's

hahaha no he uses ductape!!

True story...

My morning ritual at joberg2c....seattle when I wake up, drop kids at the pool, breakfast....and then I tape my nipple with ductape....ready to race. Works like a charm.

Plan for next year is singlespeeding with lots of walking ,running in between .I have tried riding that thing ,but i always end up cramping like a teenage girl

It clashes with the MTN Rooiberg event which is also a bloody tough race!!!

At least the drive to my home will only be 50min of cramping in the car from Buffelspoort and not 2h 10 from Rooiberg
