"He joined Team Sky this season, at the age of 28, after enjoying a stunning run of success during 2012 with Endura, when he won the Tour of the Mediterranean, the Tour du Haut-Var and Tour of Britain, and then led the British team at the world championships in Valkenburg.

According to the Sunday Times, Tiernan-Locke’s irregular blood values dated back to his Tour of Britain victory in September 2012, when he was racing for Endura but had already agreed to join Team Sky for 2013."

This is a pretty old story now, from before the World Champs even.

As others have said, some discrepancies that were picked up from before joining Sky. "Brailsford & Co" have commented and dealt with this some time back.

But what is news is that the powers that be didn't buy his excuse, now he faces a hearing.

He was always going to the hearing. He requested more time to prepare, and that was granted.

Yip, escalation now into a, most likely, very nasty outcome for the young PRO

Jay Leno, made a comment a few weeks back on his talk show about how the Britt's have developed Genetic modification - yet the still have skew teeth!

So what is Genetic modification and how would it improve sport - well 1 example is if you have a "fat gene" you can now have this modified to a "thin gene" and lose all the excess weight - and anybody who has lost a few KG will realize how this help's in cycle sports performance!

Would Genetic modification be call doping - WADA / UCI / SKY?

Ja, he had a helluva breakout year last year and folks really started to take notice with his Tour of Britain win.

But his ride in the World Champs road race last year, where the only people who could hold onto his wheel on the Cauberg were Nibali, Valverde, etc..., well that was some seriously impressive riding for a relative no-name.

But in this sport of 'marginal gains', whenever you hear the words "meteoric rise" you shouldn't be surprised when the talk starts, followed by questions, followed by questionable blood numbers.

This is going to get real messy ...

Jon Tiernan Locke’s former manager at the Endura Racing team, Brian Smith, has reiterated his support from the rider in the wake of the UCI’s request yesterday for a disciplinary hearing over suspected blood doping.

Smith has said that he believes Locke is fully innocent, and that the UCI is moving the matter forward because it has to defend the biological passport process against any doubts.

“It is frustrating for me. I know he is clean, he knows he is clean, his management knows that he is clean, Endura knows that he is clean, yet he has to go through all this,” Smith, a former professional and current Eurosport commentator, told VeloNation. “I feel sorry for him.”
