DPG Posted January 6, 2014 Share I have always used the basic MapMyRide but started using Strava this year. For the additional R63.50 per month is it worth going premium? What additional benefits does it give?

rouxtjie Posted January 6, 2014 Share mmm just upgraded and did a trial month No is my opinion, unless you have powermeter where you can do some power analysis on watts pushed out.
Craig501 Posted January 6, 2014 Share I decided to try premium end of last year when they added the Sufferfest videos. I see no other reason to upgrade. The Sufferfest videos are nice, except you need a decent data contract as the videos download every time you use them. Would have been nice had you been able to save them to the mobile app, to re-use when ever. Also they said they would be adding videos monthly (I imagined reading that, anyway), and to date they still have the original 3. So short answer in my opinion is, no. Super Sywurm Posted January 6, 2014 Share I use Endomondo and I also wondered if I should upgrade, after some thought and research, I decided not to, because I don't even use all the functions on the free version. I would say the same would apply for Strava. My answer is also no.
SeaBee Posted January 6, 2014 Share My stupid question for the day:Why would you want to do power analysis on Strava if you have proper dedicated software for it? To name two: Golden Cheetah is free and there's also WKO+, which is a once-off payment. If websites is you thing, TrainingPeaks also has a free (and a paid) version. Juuust asking... Ag just because it will be all in one place...cheetah, WKO+, sporttracks will probably be better at slicing the data anyway.
Tubehunter Posted November 24, 2014 Share Figured I would try Premium for the next year to see what I get out of it. Haven't had a chance to play with all the features yet...
traaidmark Posted November 24, 2014 Share I was wondering the same thing. I actually use Cyclemeter on the iphone, which can then post my rides to strava.com afterwards, if you go premium on cyclemeter. Almost didn't do it, but as much as I like strava - the cyclemeter app is absolutely awesome for in-ride use. The cost was R60 per year, and I feel like it gives me WAY more than strava advertises. The only thing I really would like to have is the goal feature, but not at the pesos they want from me. I would definitely give cyclemeter a shot if I were you. As an app it's really awesome, and has great features out of the box. It has support for power meters "Includes the most advanced bike power meter support available on any application or device. *" Edit: https://itunes.apple.com/app/cyclemeter-gps-cycling-running/id330595774?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 Edited November 24, 2014 by traaidmark Winstonian1984
Joeboy69 Posted December 1, 2014 Share Does it allow uploading of workouts you did on a treadmill as an example? Can't see this feature on my standard app....
Stricker Posted December 1, 2014 Share I used it for a month and was chasing 200w Average on my solo rides(still a noob so was the first time I had an indication of what I was producing)...Was a good motivation to go hard longer.. Other then that , not worth it, wont be renewing my subscription.
Tubehunter Posted December 1, 2014 Share To add to what Ramster has said, the extra analysis makes sense if you have all the power meters and similar set up as you are able to get useful info from your sessions with the premium features. If you're just using it as a training log and chasing segment KOMs than the free option is more than adequate!
