Did the 50km & almost didn't finish. Got tangle with another rider 50meter before the finish line & bailed - both of us. Both sprint for finish and I got too close to him and handle bars tangled; epic bail.

The other rider was obviously and understandably upset, but not once rude; a bit sarcastic, but I fully understand. I guess we were both excited to chase the finish line and I'm not sure how it got to the point where we were too close to each other. Hope the other rider read this: sorry mate!!! Totally unintensional and a mistake to get so close to other riders. Glad to see you got up and finished the race. Hope you / your bike is ok.

For my part; I broke my tibia; so out of action for 2 to 5 weeks probably. Very bad timing as I've already entered for dullstroom marathon and sabie marathon and half :-(. Timing of this really sucks, but I guess this can happen to anyone, any time, any place; freak accident.

Really enjoyed the race though! Not major conjestion. Will definately go back.

Ouch! Heal soon.

Did the 50km, very fun indeed. Only two gripes, they should never merge the 10km and 50km, those poor kiddies must've been frightened by the guys passing at speed and it's also extremely dangerous. The other issue is the start chute, the batch area was far too small for the large batches and you had to load from the back but some guys made so entry points in the barrier to get into their respective groups. Apart from these, an awesome event overall and that Copperlake Ale put the cherry on top.

Thats bad luck. Heal quick.

The bestest best part about this race was the copperlake breweries draughts afterwards.

Had a selection of their finest on tap. I opted for the light lager, as i think i would have chundered if i had to have anything heavier.

I clipped a rock with my peddle on the open grasslands only 6km into the 50km race. Ended up going over the bars and fracturing 2 bones in my wrist. I sent an SMS to to number on the SAS board hoping they could pick me up. After 30 mins there was no response. I walked / rode one handed back to the finish which was another 6kms. When I got there I could not find any medics, even after speaking to one of the officials sitting at the finish line. Searched for about 20 minutes before giving up and driving myself home and to hospital. After my surgery I will be complaining to the organisers. Oh, I got a response to my SMS about 2 hours later saying "No Medical Details for SAS Number". Poor form there. What if I was critically injured.

But otherwise a nice event and good course, well at least the few Km's that I saw.
