Tour Down Under

Cuddles you beauty, taking the stage and the Ochre Jersey after BMC tore the field apart on Corkscrew hill and Evens left Porte on the final part of the climb then pinned it down the descent to the finish line. Nice.

Unreal performance - flying up the climb in the big blade, and that descent! That guy knows how to go down a hill

Cuddles had a very good looking rhythm in his legs, hopefully he can carry on like that this year.

If there is anyone who deserves a good year (i.e. a major tour / race win) its him

Sky looking a bit shakey with only one (difficult) stage left

Evans did look good but corkscrew hill is hardly the Alps and the Tour Down Under is not exactly the Giro. Can see him on the podium but can't see him winning it.

Agreed, but do think he will give it a full go and with that he will bring some excitement. Porte on the other hand, cant see him even getting a podium at the Giro.

I'm also not entirely convinced by Porte but with the support of Team Sky who knows? Will depend on the strength and tactics of other teams. Are we allowed to get excited already about the Giro or is it too early?

I'll be interested to see how well Sky can cope with sending a strong team to support Porte at the Giro, and then use most of the same guys to support Froome at the Tour.

So the peleton was split by a crosswind today, and Marcel got left behind. Daryl gave Giro a good lead-out but no match for the Gorilla in full flight, who had an excellent lead out train.

Tomorrrows stage will be decisive, you can watch it live on-line form about 6am.

S'true its still early

But compared to the last few years I don't recall seeing Evans pedal / ride like that

Apparently we was both wrong:

[Tour Down Under] is very comparable to stages in the Tour de France," Prudhomme said. "It is comparable to the most important races in Europe.

Who'd a thunk it?

I meant the Giro however it seems he wont be winning TDU either.

Who am I to argue with Prudhomme but there is no way the TDU is comparable to TdF. Its like comparing 94.7 to Milan-San Remo.
