Hi

Although De Wildt got canceled I am still riding there this weekend as they are offering some peace ride on the race route.

My question is except for the actual monster and extra distance is this good training for the monster?

Then I have one weekend before the Monster to train some more skills. Where is a good place in Pretoria/Johannesburg to do Monster technical training.

You can also go and do Klapperkop . Stick to the dirt and you will get your technical climbing as well as a good workout on the downhill on the Golf Estate side .

I sharpened up my Technical skills at Giba Last week.. also we ride plenty rocky roads and rockey descents around here in the platteland.

I gotta say this.. the damage to those grippp gloves I got by default wasn't so bad and I can still use them.. jissie those stuff grip. I immediately felt a difference when I had to wear the other gloves when the grippp gloves had to get a wash especially with the descents. will def come in handy on what I believe is a rocky route at the monster.

Sadly Kingskloof is closed for the Winter.

will re-open in spetember, some much needed trail maintenance to happen.

I don't have any major climbs here.. the longest is 1km long.. I did some climbing while down in kzn.. hope that would've helped.. so just long rides left with long drags. It's the best I can do ftom now till d day.

During the week I will do routes that include steep slimes dam climbs as a faster pace. . I ONLY have this weekebd left for long steady rides as next weekend we have a weddinf in jhb.

I have 2 concerns. . I dont want to end uo taking the dirst 32km too easy and then get cut off and can anyone pls tell me what the gradient od the monster is.. I u derstand the other climbs are steeper.. but I dont know how long they are either.

Nope , but I see the site has been updated with all the new info for this years race . Scary !!!

So monster is more or less 9km long. . I would love to know what the gradient is.. as I will need to know how to pace myself..

I have worked hard at recovering after climbs.. especially the shorter steeper climbs.. it used to be a problem for me, but I have improved on that. I see there seem to be plenty of that.

Not that hectic . Looks insane but easy to climb once you got a nice rhythm .
