MTB Helmet advice

Hi guys,

Im trying to make my mind up on a MTB helmet and have narrowed it down to the following based on perceived brand quality and pricing.

Choices are:

Giro Xar (Link Here )

Giro Hex (Link here)

Anyone have experience with any of these helmets or a recommendation of another brand and model I should be considering? (Rudy Project, Specialised, Lazer, Bell)

Look forward to hearing any constructive comments.

Cheers

I have the HEX.... Awesome.

The Xar is awesome too... trashed my last one though. I will out and out recommend both and say that whichever one you buy you will be getting a fantastic piece of equipment.

I have both a Propero and Xar.

The Propero is not bad. It's very light and fits some head shapes quite well. It's visor is a bit odd shaped unfortunately.

The Xar on the other hand is quite a bit heavier, but man its fit is amazing, and the build quality and finish flawless. It's the most comfortable and securely fitting helmet I've owned. Plus, its visor is perfectly shaped and placed to block unwanted light/mud/etc without ever feeling like it's in the way. It's expensive yes, but worth it!

Go online & look at Urge Enduromatic, got mine from CRC, read all the reviews & took a chance without trying one on. Very comfy, comes with different thickness inserts to adjust the size & very light. Offers more protection on the lower part of the back of the head. Ventilation works well even in the recent summer heat. Took 3 days to arrive.

Does anyone have any feedback on the ventilation of the Hex? I have read such mixed reviews online. Is this an ideal do-it-all helmet? I need something that will keep me cool in a 30°C+ XC race but not make me look like a racing snake when I do the odd fun enduro.

The Xar appears to have been discontinued. There are probably better options like the "Feature" mentioned above. The latest Fox Meta trail helmet seems good if you can handle the looks.
