I'm curious, where did it go wrong, what would you do differently next time?

My first K2C and I'm keen to go for a sub4, it's going to be tough but what's the point of aiming for a Sub 4h20...

Whut seeding did u get?

Did a 4:20 last year, came 324th, hit the wall bad on the last 15k's, granny gear, cramps ect ect, i trained a little harder this year and did more hills, i weigh 93 now, will go and race on 88, hopefully this time ill make it

Eish, I have been warned about Simola near the end, not much that one can do about I guess except for being a bit fitter and being mentally prepared (if that helps at all)

Good luck

In 2012 I also only managed about 4:20 for my first, was hoping to go sub4 too, started up front with all the pro's & that's where it went wrong for me. The start was very very fast through the streets between the houses. Paid the heavy price for that later on.

This year will be no different if I start upfront again, I'll still start fast & stick with them for as long as I can & hopefully recover somewhere in the middle.

you on strava? post some stats, whut seeding did u get?

Not saying it is easy but am also aiming sub 4. Just don't think it is really a pipe dream sort of scenario. Did the K2C about 3 or 4 years ago and managed a 4h08 with about the amount of training I am doing now.

I have a C seeding with PPA so I am very avg at best

Busy with substitute entry so no seeding for K2K yet

Did a 5;59;36 in 2012.Weighed 96kg. 4;31;10 in 2013 weighed 83kg. This year is gonna be difficult as I have not managed to do as much training as as wanted to. The Flu bug....... Was hoping for a 4;15. Weigh 87kg now  Lets hope the legs are there on race day. Hope the weather plays along like last year. :w00t:

The winners come in at about 3:10...

Sub 4 is very doable if you start in one of the first three groups, pace yourself, keep energy for the second half, get a strong finish going over the last 40km.

If you can handle an ave of 24km/h you can do a sub 4. Last year they rode a 24.04km/h and did it in 3:59:12. Good luck.

I must agree, anyone doing it under 4 is super fit and a good climber.

I consider myself average, usually Argus time around 4 hrs, my last Karoo2Coast was 06h15, but I am not a good climber.

I just withdrew (entry already taken) after a nasty fall last weekend - knee not co-operatiing now with the training! :(

Very sad to hear. There is always next year. Good luck with the recovery.
