What sort of mileage, per week, are you gals & guys up to? You can list it by 'Sub 4', Sub 5', Sub 6' or 'Survival'.

Hi, speaking of my personal experience. Last year I trained an ave of 800km/month 3 months prior to the K2C. Did road riding as well as mtb. Focused on climbing as a priority. I managed a 4:31. Missed a 4:25 due to a go pro unit loss off my bike whilst riding. Also started in the B group which helps with the congestion on Ou Wapad. The previous year I road 5:59. Only cycled for 4 months before attempting the event. Had no clue what to expect and how to PACE in a long ride. Learnt a couple of good painfull lesson. Hope this helps you.

Factors to consider. Weight. Fitness, Wind, Starting group, Hydration and eats on the bike.

Answers to that might cause a mass cancellation of riders! :D

I'm in the survival category... ;)

87kg, Like I said I lost time looking for my Go Pro which is probably still at the bottom of the pass. Chain came off, one Wee Wee stop and a pitstop at 70 for a liquid refil and chain lube. I just couldn`t hold on to the hard tail guys on my Giant Antem. Was hoping for a 5 hour ride. Was lekker in my chops after the ride. Had to Castle load......

Aiming for a sub 4, would be doing about a 1000km in August but June & July I only did about 250km each including a 5 week break... After next week I will slowly start tapering. No idea if I'm on track but I think the Cederberg Xperience in 2 weeks time will be a good barometer.

erm dude, you do realize thats +-16 hours per week min, do that for a couple of months and youll take podium my friend

He is an ELITE rider. :w00t:

Joh... After hearing this maybe I should just chill by the coast and skip the race... By next weekend I will have done about 450km in August and about 600km if I combine June and July... But I'm looking at 6 hours... :o

1 month to go!! I am extremely nervous! I train alone so I have no idea if my fitness levels are good enough for this race! any advise?? Can anyone compare the hills to some of the hills in CT?

AR88 - Come join us over the weekend - we normally go at +-20km/h flattish rides with a malanshoogte and vissershok climb worked in. We're not the fittest bunch in africa but we try our best

You can do it. 6 hours is an AVE OF 16KM/H.

Dont forget to ride on Gravel as it takes more out of you than on a Tar road. Get those bumps under the belt(butt). Eensaamheid Road and Spes Bona are good training roads.

You'll make it! I did it last year, 2 months after I started mtb, and my longest ride before I did the race was 33km (with LOTS of climbing!). With that in mind, I think anyone can do it if your mind is strong enough.

Eeeek, was supposed to be in response to Generaal Gert. Sorry!

And your time? Are you doing it again this year? Well done and good luck.
