Leave plans got all messed up at work because of project going live over Dec/Jan, so I decided to move my longer leave earlier. In-laws live in George and Dad in-law loves driving, so that's pretty much logistics sorted out!

I've done lots of Shorter Distance MTB races (40KM), some longer flatter ones (60 to 65), and done a couple 94.7's. But I'm still scared of doing 1800m worth of climbing (even though its over 100km).

Think I will sleep on it tonight, and decide tomorrow.

Only 200 spots left.

Just do it

Entered! (Now I have an excuse to miss the Parys Ultra the weekend before!).

Anybody know of good hills to practice in Jhb Westrand area? I can do the Christiaan de Wet climb from Clearwater towards Northgate a couple of times, but not sure if there are any longer ones close by (the Hill on the R28 towards Krugersdorp is maybe a bit too far, but Doreen may be an option).

Is 6 hours a good target to work towards for the K2C? I'm not keen on being in the saddle for more than that (just sounds painful), have done a couple of rides over the last two years that went up to 5 hours.

Take a drive out the Hekpoort and ride breedts Nek and mini Breedts. Gives you about 85km with a aprox 1400m climbing.

Forgot about Breedts, will go and do it a couple of times in the next 3 months.

What is the best place to do some long hill training in the Durbanville area?
vissershok although it's on the tar or you can just ride on the verge off road.

That or Dorstberg, Meerendal

Could someone please help out?

Where is the best place to sleep on Sat - in uniondale or knysna?

How do you get from Knysna to Uniondale with bike if no mate / wife / gf / chauffeur to assist...alternatively, how do you get your car back from Uniondale to Knysna/finish?

How much single-track is there - does the race go through the forest or is it all district/gravel road?

thanks!

I stayed in Knysna last year, booked a shuttle for me and bike from Knysna to Uniondale the morning of the race. Cost was around R450.00 if I remember correctly.

No Single track only district roads and some jeep-like track in the first 1/4 of the race.

You're probably gonna struggle to get accommodation even now, the race is extremely popular and normally accommodation is booked out way in advance especially in Uniondale.

Try and find out from the organisers about shuttle service/s. Otherwise do the charity ride back on the Monday ;)

The last part of the race goes through the forest and is really worth it really really beautiful. But save some legs for the final climb as you come through the river as it will eat you piece by piece if you have no legs left.

Guys have died on that last climb...literally!!
