For one ride only use your MTB with slicks.

If you really want to go the road bike experience rather borrow a road bike do a proper setup and try it. Then decide from there. The road bike is usually a faster time versus the MTB a more enjoyable ride.My thoughts only

Sorry for the Hi-Jack.

HIJACK on: Which slicks would you guys recommend for a 26" HT? Do you get really thin ones that will fit on a mtb rim? or are the slicks for a mtb still quite thick(ish) ?

Anybody have any really cheap really light complete wheels with slicks for a lightweight lady (my fiance). PM me :)

Thanks.

You might want to consider hiring a road bike. The Complete Cyclist in Hout Bay specifically caters for this over the Argus weekend.

Conti make a good 26" slick that fits onto the rim. They go for around R285 odd. Not a bad option. Quite a few lbs stock them too.

Why not just rent a road bike? I'm sure someone in CT will be able to rent you one?

Have you seen how much people try to rent road bikes down here at this time of year? It's nuts, rather take that money and spend it on something.
