I might have gone completely mad, but here is my plan.

First of all this plan is not about me, it is about what you can do for charity.

This plan will only depend on your involvement and how much you want to make a difference in someone's life and how big a smile you want to put on their face.

The plan is for you to make a pledge from R 1 to whatever per night that I sleep rough on the Freedom Challenge. Sleeping rough will mean that I don't sleep in a support station, intermediate support station or any other accommodation where we normally have to pay a fee including farmers letting me stay for free.

Sleeping rough will thus mean, sleeping under the stars, or sleeping in an open abandoned house / hut or kraal where no fee is charged.

You the life changer may make a pledge per night, that will be collected afterwards and I will donate all the pledges to charity.

Now is this a mad plan and are you willing to make a change in a life.

PS. The Freedom Challenge race across South Africa is held in June where the mercury drop during the night to anything from minus 1 to minus 14

Please help me in making this plan work, I will keep you updated with the details of my main sponsor and the charity that I will be supporting.

Ek het al probeer om langer te ry, maar iets jaag my..........sal graag vanjaar my persoonlike beste probeer verbeter, beplan dus minder slaap, hetsy die uitslaap prosedure......

some background to my chirp. in 2005 the second edition of the FC took place with its first international entrant. Demitir Kieffer was a french/US 'explorer' with some adventure credentials.

The full triathlon was mandatory those days, and there were a few(for wsant of a better word) 'development' athletes on the startline. Mapwork is not a strong point for these guys. Along the way, two of them managed to stick with Dimitri on the assumption that he knew what he was doing.

He seemed happiest bundu bashing in the wrong direction and almost always missed support stations and just ended up sleeping rough. I think he made it in with his unfortunate sidekicks on the 26th day.

It then transpired that his paddling credentials were not quite as extensive as quoted, and he broke records for slowest berg river performance(probably tried sleeping rough during stages there too).

anyway, real character looks like he's still at it (my info is all hearsay, but waddilove doesn't talk total rubbish without throwing in a smidgeon of truth).

OK - I am in - R10 per every night you sleep rough IF... you a) make and drink at least 1 coffee in the rough overnight, and b) post pictures of you doing it.
