Let me start off by stating the following, I in no way want to attach individuals or turn this post into a mud flinging match.

It was stated on my advert that the lights I am selling are unsafe to the public, specifically the battery packs, this is not true as the seller did not contact me before hand to get all the facts and specifications of the packs.

here is the stated text and video posted on the advertisement, I urge readerS to read the complete post before commenting etc.

seriously! You just add more numbers? 1800 Lumen of a light that barely will do 400 lumen. And a cheap battery that is at best half what you write. good chance that this thing will burn down your house.

Why not just add a few Zeros. why even write numbers if there not within a factor of 2 of the truth?

You realize that your selling thing to people that could put there life and loved ones at risk right?

I hope you have the lights stored in a fire proof place. Good luck selling that junk

First off regarding the safety issue of the battery packs, the individual in the video above was not using a safety circuit when building that battery pack or when charging the battery that exploded in question. Please see below pictures of safety circuit incorporated into battery packs that come with my lights, to prevent overcharging and catastrophic failure

here is also a link regarding lithium battery safety for those interested

Then regarding Lumens, I do not have the equipment to test lumen output, from what I understand you need quite an expensive instrument to measure it, so as per my advertisement, I have stated what the manufacturer claims, no editing of advert has been done to rectify this.

If anyone has the equipment to test Lumen output, I'd be more then happy to see what these lights can put out.

Run time testing is currently being done on the lights and an update will be posted with actual test results, not manufacturer claims for those interested.

Again, I'd just like to state the battery packs that come with my lights are safe and aren't going to fail unless physically damaged or amerced in water.

Speaking to the manufacturers this morning, that SPECIALIZE in battery manufacturing for various applications, and bicycle lights as an additional product, they have not to date had a battery explode, and have an annual revenue of $100 million, so are not some backyard company.

My inbox is open for anyone that feels that they would like to contact me.

Who exactly was attacking your products?

Sounds like it was another advertiser that sells lights and batteries as well?

I don't want to cause any fisty cuffs even though Friday is so close.

I just wanted anyone who might have looked at the ad and seen the comment know that the battery packs have safety systems in place and won't explode out of the blue

That's exactly what it was!

You got that right. And I actually had 2 lights ready to check out in my cart. But after a comment like that......just not on. Lots better ways to state it,

So it was obviously the usual suspect, extreme lights guy?

Spreads mis information, fear mongering, toots his own horn and "whistleblows" and yet does exactly what he "accuses" his competitors of doing.

Go read his SABS bullsh1te thread, apparently only the battery charger is partially certified.

The best are his "product reviews", that he conducts on his own products...

Having said all this, the whole Lumen issue is going down the same road that the candlepower issue went some years back. I recently ran an older 180 lumen light against my one year old nine hundred lumen light and the output was very similar. Genuine 500 Lumen lights that I used to import years ago in a different life were incredibly powerful and far exceeded what is claimed as 900 or 1100 now.

In my opinion, if you are selling a product claiming a certain lumen output, you should be able to verify this.

If you don't have have your own integrating sphere, or goniophotometer, there are a number of places where you can have this done (for a fee), simply relying on the manufactures claimed figures is misleading, as they quote best case readings of the naked LED. Your heatsink will obviously increase in temperature, raising the LED junction temperature and reducing the lumen output, you then have some form of optics that will reduce the lumen output.
