I'd recommend GT

We dont have a big sponser this year. Events is expensive to host. Marshalls, traffic officials, insurance, timing, tents, toilets, medals, etc. It all ads up. Then there is the risk of bad weather and 200 people arrived and you hoped for 400 just to cover your cost.

You can pay R40 for a day permit to go do Welvanpas. Wvp has taken about 6 years to develop into some of the best singletrack around. A HUGE ammount of that funding came from Gravel Travel. Every year we build more singletrack and maintain the old routes. We dont have the same ammount of members as Jonkers or the Meerendal routes so we bargain on GT to supply the funds for NEW singletrack.

We love it if you enjoy the routes and the race. Hopes this gives you moe insight.

Hope to see you there. Hope we have perfect weather on race day.

Welvanpas is amazing and one of my favourite places to ride. Wish I could ride there more often. Still haven't had a chance to ride the new black route due to injuries.

The search, I think you need to reconsider the date for next year. Having 3 good mtb races in the Western Cape on the same day is going to mean you get a lot less people.

Im getting really excited about this event, entered this morning and reading about "Groenland berg, Welvanspas trails, Spur burgers forsale at the event, massages available etc etc....This is the place to be at next Saturday guys and gals!!

Also entered this morning, but only for the 35km.

My normal riding partner will be doing the short ride with his Son, and I don't want them to wait too long for me.

Looking forward to this.

I just can't decide which one to do!

ITs not a hard decision. Tru Cape is a great ride and is a lot shorter 50km. Problem is its become to congested for me as there is lots of technical singletrack but the majority of people cannnot cope with it, furthermore there is a short 25km loop that joins the longer route making the situation worse. ( Thats my take anway.)

The GT is a lot tougher as its 15km longer and a good 400 m more climbing.

But to be honest they are both awesome and its a pity we need to choose as they probably the best 2 races within a 80km radius of CT on the whole calender. Next year they must change the dates so they dont clash.

Ah, now I know your hub name :-)

Still deciding, but think I am leaning towards Gravel Travel. Either way I will have to do the short route :-( Struggling to get over bronchitis.
