This race is happening on Sunday and I see its a 3 x 20km lap if you want to do the long one

Has anyone done this before? Is it atleast a nice MTB race or a bit boring?

No other races on this weekend in CT area..

Cheers

I have done it, Its was fun, a nice little loop, nothing tricky, and a great venue and vibe at the end... Or was that just me cooking on all the Solm's Delta Juice... Very nice to have family to cheer you as you pass each time... O and there is a small amount of tarmac on each lap. so all in all, a fast race, I would be there for sure, but going to a wedding the night before

Sounds good. Will also be attending. Was wondering about the lap issue as well but seems it is worth it.

Now you can load that 46T front ring on your single speed..

I did it last year in my third month of mountain biking and the 40km was a breeze. The only "technical" bit is the one and only climb, which is quite rocky. And there will be a lot of sand because this is Franschhoek. Considering doing the 60km this year but will also watch the Paarl MTB site and see what group rides are planned, or maybe just go to Franschhoek and ride with my local friends above the dam and on Matoppie.

if its as short as they say then surely you could do the race and ride in the area. id be keen for that if someone wanted to show me around after! never ridden round there

You can ride the 60 and then go over to Franschoek and ride at the dam and Matoppie Nice views, nice climbs and singletrack .

It sure was something different to what I'm used, and I must admit, quite a load of fun! I flatlined the whole way, but I think my downfall was no group to ride with, but a lekke solo effort nevertheless! I finished 19th in 2h09mins, will definitely do it again next year
