jcza Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Race radio chief has told Italian television is that due to the risk of adverse weather conditions, the race will be neutralised with one lap to go and times taken for the overall classification. No time bonuses will be awarded.
jcza Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The lack of time bonuses means that Michael Matthews will definitely keep hold of the maglia rosa for another day. He was at risk from Alessandro Petacchi, who was only 8 seconds behind him in the general classification.

Bling keeps the pink. Didn't see the end of the stage but it looked like mayhem. Protests, slow riding, cancelation of most of the laps, rain turning the road into an ice rink. 5 riders going down taking out most of cannondale for Viviani (he can't get a break!). Short and sweet? If that weather pattern continues it's going to be interesting up north. Not sure how the skinny Colombian will take to snow, slush and icy rain. Cuddles on the other hand can't get enough of it!

Eldron Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Those roads were crazy - it was like watching skittles with wheels in the last 2km. Pros hitting corners at 15kph and still drifting... When the riders first decided to boycott the stage I thought they were pooftahs but seeing those last few km changed my mind. Much craziness today.
BrandonF_ Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I must admit, watching that last bit after the bell, I was glued to the tv and found myself on the edge of the couch worked up by the excitement of every slippery corner (and the commentator, of course), damn man, road cycling can be exciting after all!!!.....(when its wet hahaha)
