  1. Thanks Gerald, first time I've played one of these fantasy leagues and it definitely added to the enjoyment of the Tour. As for my team, they're back on the juice next year... (joke)
  2. Down to 6... OK, see I've got company.
  3. Ok, who didn't have Froome on their team? Down to a team of 7...
  4. Ok. So I got irritated for no reason.
  5. Find it irritating that a commentator as experienced as Sherwen compares Tour sprinters with 100m runners. No similarity. Tour sprinters are endurance athletes that are able to sprint after a few hours in the saddle. The Usain Bolts of the world don't even breath during a 100m.
  6. Gerald, how many of us had Cavendish?
  7. Hey Tankman, put any 9 names there - you're making the same point. Non dopers don't shape up, as in any elite sport.
  8. Chris Froome Alberto Contador Vicenzo Nibali Peter Sagan André Greipel Mark Cavendish Andrew Talansky Romain Bardet Joaquim Rodriguez
  9. Agree with this, cannot say my agreement is from experience (4 weeks into my second attempt at fat adaption) but seems logical. I would (do) extend the use of carbs to hard training days. If you want to train with intensity you need the correct fuel.
  10. Enjoy this guys wrap on races. The link is to the first 3 stages. http://cyclocosm.com/2014/05/how-the-race-was-won-giro-ditalia-2014-stages-1-3/
  11. This is something that would interest me. Helps if others are after similar goals, always cool to compare and would be great having a few guys trying at the same time. Maybe not the full 8848 meters but something like 5 km. http://www.smh.com.au/executive-style/strive/everesting-a-new-mountain-to-climb-for-cyclists-20140425-379ip.html
  12. I'm good, I'm waiting...

  14. My attitude to red robots has changed, a big part of that change has come from discussions here. But you cannot compare an oke on a bike crossing on a red with a taxi doing the same.
  15. Same thing. Like being hit by a pellet or a 'Zombie Stopper', same thing - not.
  16. Man, can I identify with that. Same applies to sweets...

Where you guys get the live streaming?
  18. Noakes 'Lore of Running' is about running to your potential. Carbs needed for that. Noakes adoption of the Banting diet is about health. I think he is correct on both accounts. edit: that would be endurance running, not sprinting.
  19. I buy into the health aspects of the LCHF diet so want to follow the food recommendations. But I also have a competitive streak and want to ride well. I think Tim Noakes had it right both pre and post his adoption of the Banting diet. Pre: If you want to run your best possible marathon, you need to carbo-load. (And train with the aid of carbs?) Post: For good health, eat low carb. I have tried going low carb twice but have failed, the carb craving just became too intense. So I’m going to fudge it a bit. Free carbs during ride time. After commutes (< 1 hour) have a few handfuls of raisins. For long rides of over 2 hours - oats pre ride, raisins during and immediately after a carb treat. All other times go LCHF. Think my mind and body will have an easier time adapting… Starting tomorrow.
  20. A valid reason for crossing on a red is the car next to you playing 'music' like that...
  21. I have but will still cross on a red if I'm alone at the intersection. Otherwise...
  22. Your name is quite appropriate for one that jumps red lights. (agree with what you're saying btw)
  23. The potential consequences of jumping a red light in a car and on a bicycle are very different. Both are breaking the law but in the one case you are a potential killer, in the other you could be flattened. How many people come to a full stop at a stop street? If not, you are breaking the law. As a pedestrian, do you wait for the little green man before crossing the road? If not you are jaywalking, a crime. If there are no vehicles with right of way, I cross over a red intersection slowly - as in freewheel and standing - almost in pedestrian mode.
  24. eNCA ran the story this afternoon but no mention of the car driver.
