howzit,

please help guys, i noticed a flat back tyre, and saw a piece of wire stuck in thenwheel caused it. took the wheel of the bike and wanted tomjust break the bead to add some more stan's, when i ran into a brick wall. thentyre does not want to give an inch. i manage to get a tire lever in, putnas soon as i pop it, the pressurenisnto much and it sits back. intried some lube, i tried some stans, i tried some force, nothing. it seems likemthe sealant dried up( bike have been standing for a couple of months), and it seems like it glued up. i notice some of the rim tape is also not in position any more. how the hell do i get the tire off? (29er wtb nano 2.1)

cheers

Add sealant through the valve stem?

To get the tyre off you'll need to get both beads into the middle of the rim (i.e. the lower part) and then proceed from there.

Of hoe?

To get the lumps out you can unseat the one bead and do it from that side, no need to do both. You can top up at the same time before remounting. This also lets you check sealant level.

If there aren't any lumps, then the syringe trick is way easier, but you'll need valves with removable cores. Stans make a pretty handy tool for getting the cores out, like this:

Could call those the Geax Mezcal removal kit for the tyres on my Giant.....those wheels are going to the LBS if anything needs doing, was almost decapitated by a flying tyre lever sticking them on, tight fit se %*^&*

I've found with very tight tyres only try lever off a small piece of the bead like 10mm at a time. You concentrate all the force just on that small piece of bead, slowly the thing pops off, any other way is impossible. Also you need good quality longer tyre levers, not like those pathetically small tyre levers you get as a kit in a saddle bag etc.
