ja. I have family there, and it's about 6-1 in terms of visits so my number is up soon.

My sister has been on Gold Coast since 1996 and my visits still = zero.

transkaroo doesn't go (even close to) across the karoo. it's a overhyped one day race on provincial roads...but maybe i'll still do it one day.

I'd take that over this one

No such place as the blackberg and they even the mountain logo/picture is from a different country. (But I'll still do the race if they can get it off the ground)

If you can stomach provincial roads and a name that's technically not 100% correct the Trans Karoo is really worth doing.

Similar but different, Race Across America has been a pipe-dream of mine for a while. I'm sure they'd let you do it on a mtb and you could go off-road up and down the Grand Canyon along the way.

I did a great ride last year that I would strongly urge anyone with a "Trans" bucket list to look at. TransPortugal - go check it on line. Small field, fantastically run race through an awesome country. It's a 9 day unmarked un-supported GPS ride over approx. 1100kms with a lot of climbing. If anyone is keen to look at it, let me know.

BTW - Is anyone out there keen to look at TransAlp or Four Peaks next year?
