Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it USD 10 000 to enter and first prize is USD 750 000 so the winner would get 75 times their money back?

I think everyone gets confused when converting the entry fee into ZARs and thinking it is R100k to enter and a million prize money when actually the prize for first place is just over EIGHT MILLION Mandellas. One million Ront for second place and Half a million Rand for third place.

mr cooool i am well aware of the right calculations i was actually refering to sheebeans earlier statement of it not being good odds, my maffs is lower grade but i can and like to be able to count wiff my fingers :whistling: :whistling:

Hmm. I think someone is going to die at this event. You place such a carrot infront of people and tell them sleep is optional someone is bound to overdo it. I have heard people are estimating the winners will arrive within 2.5 days after the start. This means this is an endurance event associated with fitness. If you ony have skills stay at home and save the 10 000 dolars.

I kinda doubt that.

reminds me of a Stephen King short story where the prize is a billion dollars. A group of people start walking and are not allowed to slow below a certain speed. Every x hours the last oke in the group gets shot. The winner is the last guy still walking. Can't remember the name of the story.

I think the winners will be in in under 48 hours from the start.

You can't be serious, we are talking about fit humans, not cycling droids, have you ever cycled hard for 24 hours on a mountain bike ?

Give it a try and see what happens to the mind and body.

Until the route is known it is impossible to speculate what the winning time will be. Could be district road and jeep track for 800km with a unpleasant surprise waiting just outside Stellenbosch. Some big mountains there.

That is just what I think. There are super human people around. It may not even be a cyclist! Let's see how it plays out. With this kind of money involved absolutely anything can and will happen.

Do yourself a favor and calculate that average speed....

... without sleep, non stop?

Can't be serious.

Sure, but still bound by newton's 3rd....not going to happen

PS for a 48H win...they would need a 21km/h min avg...with no stopping / sleeping / resting.

I can't even manage that in a 21Km Nissan race, pee at every water point and still only manage a 12km/h avg.
