And everybody else works for free? hahaha sure.....

Have you ever heard of non-profit? Sure they still make a profit, but just enough to cover expenses. Non-profits would be much more inclined to share information than for profit companies. In my opinion in any case.

This is what I was looking for:

((((Time / Winner) – 1) / Beta) x 100) + Penalty

Where [Time] is your time for the event,

[Winner] is the time of the winner (sometimes adjusted)

[beta] is a number that indicates the difficulty of the conditions where more than 1 means windy or hilly and less means flat or calm

[Penalty] is a number that gets added to the index usually for the time that has passed since the event (more than 5 months old)

[Weighting] is the percentage of your total index made up by that particular ride

We have, over many years of results, realised that these type of calculations prejudice people who move up from one distance group to another.. The only real way to avoid that is to user proper regression analysis... Just a useless fact for the day

If they get the Beta right for short distance races (i.e. very low) then the formula should work fine. I do the odd short distance race, has never helped my seeding (PPA)

We have tried all sorts is combinations for the "beta" value... You can never quite get it so that a person doing a 40k fits in the right place with a 100k.... Look it does a 80% job.. But there is always someone who will be prejudiced

So I had a seeding of 53 odd before the last TrailSeeker. I finished that one with an index in the 30's, which is reflecting on the saseeding site already. It's only my 5th race, but it hasn't changed my overall seeding at all. Is the recalculation only done monthly?

ive also noticed that the ave does take a while to be adjusted... usually a week or so.. give it two weeks before Hakahana and email them if hasnt changed...
