I was at a Mavic launch some years back, and the rep from Annecy (sp?) was going on about how Salomon would cease to produce the adidas cyclewear and produce it under the Mavic name. They are as of 2005 a subsidiary of Amer sports of Finland. Mavic is Salomon's subsidiary, along with Arc'teryx and Bonfire.

Mavic is Salomon's subsidiary, along with Arc'teryx and Bonfire. It was a pity. I really liked the adidas gear! I still have shoes from back then, and some bibs, etc. The Mavic stuff is cool, but I like the undertstated-ness of the adidas brand.  The other reason I recalled what I did above was the "Mav-ique" rep hinted about a raid on a well-known Cape discounter which ended in the case being thrown out of court.
