Oh guys, on a serious note - looking at the GPS note on the joberg2c website.

It reckons:

3. Garmin

There are many Garmin models that can upload and follow GPX tracks and there are many that can’t – you will need to do some research to find out if your model is suitable. We do know that some models like the Edge 500 do not upload GPX directly but there is way to do it via Garmin Connect. Contact Garmin directly for more information.

I have the Edge 500, was planning on using it

Has anyone used it before? Will it work?

Do I need to contact Garmin as advised

Edge 500 works perfectly, they will send you the upload instructions when the route files are ready

One way to find out: Test it to see what it can do.

A friend sent me a rout she did a while ago, I've uploaded the route to my Garmin (Fenix) and going to ride her route on Saturday to see how the navigation works.

You have to organize your own driver. One of my mates offered his services last year and did just that. Slept in the tented village.

See here http://joberg2c.co.za/camper-van-packages/

There were also a tweet last week about the physiotherapists / masseuses that could drive cars from camp to camp (saw it on the joberg2c facebook page)  - not sure if there's still space available, but it may be worth checking out see if there's still space available there?

Have the same. It does work. Did the GPS training course organised by J2C recently.

They will send you files before the event. If I remember correctly, you copy the 'fit' file into your 'courses' folder on the GPS. Then navigate to courses via the menu and off you go.

If you're riding in a team, have one guy running the map on large scale, and the other running the map on close up scale, with him riding in front.

Can't wait....

Tyre question.

Are there any clear, no-brainer tyre choices for this event?

I'm guessing that a tyre with good rolling properties will be more suitable than an aggressive tread.

Glad it works perfectly thanks, would the 510 be better in your opinion?

Its a bigger screen but find the colour sometimes harder to make out on the bike in direct sunshine.
